Balance in Yoga Therapy: A Multi-Dimensional Concept

Yoga Insights, Yoga Philosophy, Yoga Therapy

Sattva, Rajas, Tamas: What They Mean for Your Mind, Body, and Healing

Yoga Philosophy, Yoga Psychology, Yoga Therapy

In yoga therapy, we often look at how the mind, body, and spirit work together—not as separate parts, but as one connected system. One of the most insightful ways to explore this connection is through the ancient framework of the Tattvas (तत्त्व), or foundational...

Lessons from Being Staff at the Sivananda Ashram : Lessons from Being Staff at the Sivananda Ashram : Lesson 1
Waking before sunrise… not out of duty, but because the stillness and silence draw you in.

Lesson 2
Service becomes its own form of practice. The simplest tasks soften the ego far more than any advanced posture.

Lesson 3
Community becomes your mirror. Your support system. The people who walk beside you as you grow, unravel, and rebuild.

Lesson 4
Living yoga is very different from doing yoga. It reshapes you from the inside out.

Lesson 5
Joy isn’t born from comfort—it rises from connection. With yourself, with others, with nature, with consciousness itself.

Lesson 6
Sunrise, snow, forest, long corridors, chanting bells… everything becomes part of your practice.

Lesson 7
Being staff isn’t a role. It’s a transformation. A remembering of who you are beneath all the noise.

The ashram changes the way we work, the way we serve, the way we live.
And it keeps shaping us—long after we leave. #yogalife #community #ashram

💬 “I’ve completely shifted how I practice yoga.”
💬 “Breathwork like this should be taught to everyone.”

Deep gratitude to the Ashram and each participant who made this experience so meaningful. 🌿

So much of our tension begins where the breath meets resistance — in the rigidity of the rib cage, the overuse of secondary respiratory muscles, and the forgotten intelligence of the diaphragm, our body’s natural healer.

Through guided movement, mindful awareness, and therapeutic breathing practices, you’ll:
✨ Soften and free the rib cage
🌬️ Reawaken your primary respiratory muscles
💆‍♀️ Relax and retrain overactive neck and shoulder muscles
🔥 Relearn how to breathe with ease — restoring your natural rhythm of healing, stability, and inner calm

As the breath becomes more fluid, the spine aligns, the nervous system settles, and the body remembers how to support itself from within.

FAQ

Is yoga therapy available virtually or only in person?

Both! I have a small number of in-person slots; however, virtual offers us more flexibility. If you feel strongly that you'd like to meet in person and my slots are full, I'm happy to start working with you virtually and put you on the waitlist for in-person sessions.

Does my private health insurance cover your services?

Yes, As registered members with THE RITMA COMPLEMENTARY MEDICINE ASSOCIATION, most yoga therapy services can be covered under "Alternate medicine and Naturotherapy" by your health insurance. Massage therapy services are covered under the standard "Massage Therapy" category.

We can provide you with an insurance receipt after your session to help you claim reimbursement. Just let us know at your next appointment!

Please note: Coverage details can vary depending on your specific insurance plan. We recommend contacting your provider directly to confirm coverage for yoga therapy services.
